Mike was born May 30, 1951, in Alexandria, Louisiana and passed away September 22, 2022, at his home in Hineston, LA at the age of 71. Mike was a lot of things: a cowboy, a Christian, a father, a son, a husband, an uncle, a magnificent friend, and a guiding mentor, but overall, Mike was an opportunist. Perhaps it was his Christian upbringing and the health conditions that he was born with that instilled this in him, but he did not take one day for granted. Mike was an opportunist in that every day he saw as an opportunity. Every day he saw that he could do more. As John Wayne said, he saw tomorrow as a perfect slate where he could apply the things he learned today. Everyone who encountered Mike could probably attest to this. Every opportunity to exercise his faith, love, friendship, and care he took with a smile on his face. Through this pure-hearted nature, one that is so intertwined with integrity, faith, and love that it is an undeniably beautiful and rare thing to encounter, he blessed the lives of countless people and made many friends along the way. Every day he wanted to do more for others and every day he did. Every encounter he saw as a blessing to serve his purpose, ultimately to let God’s love shine through him. Truly Mike Robinson was a beacon of light – the lighthouse on a hill. So yes, in all Mike was an opportunist. Every opportunity to do for others, he sought to let the light and love of God shine through.
A special word about his sweet wife, Debbie:
Left to cherish him are many children, grandchildren, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He never saw the difference between them and loved them all the same. However, perhaps the sweetest part in Mike’s life was the time he got to spend with his sweet wife, Debbie. What started with a potential trade for two of Debbie’s cows blossomed into decades of union, friendship, and love. The tender love and care Debbie had for Mike was something so rare it was no doubt true love. Through reciprocated guidance, love, and care, they spent 23 beautiful, bright, loving years together. And in time, hopefully, they will spend an eternity more.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Robinson and Helen Lewis Robinson and two infant siblings.
