Obituary for Gregory "Rusty" Paul Smith
Funeral services for Gregory “Rusty” Paul Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Hineston Tabernacle with Reverends Jeff Scroggins, Mike Smith, and Larry Marler officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday, September 13th from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Rusty was born September 7, 1959, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away September 8, 2021, in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 62. For many years, he worked as a logger and was a member of Sieper Community Church. Rusty loved to laugh, cut up, and spend time outdoors gardening. One unusual hobby he enjoyed was catching hogs. He was a down-to-earth man who never met a stranger. Spending time with his family was so important to him, and his grandchildren were his life.
Rusty was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Heath Smith; parents, Lovett Word Smith and Shirley Reid Griffin Smith; three brothers; and four sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Audrey Squyres Smith of Hineston, LA;
daughter-in-law, Lelia Shay Smith of Hineston, LA;
grandchildren, Rowdy, Mady, Shelby, and Daultyn;
brothers, John Smith, Wilmer Smith,, and Eddie Smith;
sisters, Liz Smith, Marna Boswell, and Judy DeWitt;
and numerous extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Thacker, Joe Stokes, Adam Foster, Chance Weatherford, Allen Thibodeaux, and Eddie Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Daultyn Smith and Rowdy Smith.
