Gladys Lee Albright was born on February 8, 1938 in Simpson, Louisiana to Johnnie Claude and Myrtis Thompson Albright. She was the baby girl with four older siblings.

Gladys grew up in Simpson, La and attended school there. She married and had son Bobby Carver, Jr in San Francisco, CA. She returned to Vernon Parish and worked at Montgomery Ward and then joined Frankie Howard in January 1981 at the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department to begin her prestigious law enforcement career. This is the career that she was created for; 6’ tall, loaded and fearless. She was a formidable law enforcement officer, working as a sheriff’s deputy, juvenile officer and criminal detective. She was a hero, mentor, comrade in arms, a force to be reckon with. She retired in June 2000 from the Vernon Correctional Facility where she worked in Admin.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend and she treated all whom she loved as family. Family and friends were the most important things in her life. She raised her grandson, Bobby Carver III and he was one of the great prides of her life. She was so thoughtful and was always there when you needed her.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed reading Janet Evanovich books, eating BBQ and watching Fox News. She had a sharp memory and could recite recipes and driving directions like no one else.

She went home to be with the Lord peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 23rd . She was preceded in death by her father Claude Albright, mother Myrtis Albright, son Bobby Carver Jr, brothers Charles, Huey and Emmett Albright, sister Dorothy Johnson and best friend Terri Ford.

Gladys/Grandma leaves to cherish her memories: her grandson Bobby (Angela) Carver – great-granddaughter Kailey (Hunter) Woodham, great-great grandson Wayden, great-granddaughter Laiken Carver, granddaughter, Lauren Booth (BJ) – great-grandsons Randall and Gavan Booth, great-granddaughter Ivy Booth, niece Nancy (Chris) Youngs, nephew Al (Ellen) Johnson, nephew Larry (Michelle) Johnson, niece Pam (Ted) Bordelon, nephew Darrell (Cathy) Albright, nephew Bud (Ellene) Albright, beloved friend and caregiver Donnis Herrington, previous husband MC “Tot” Stephens, grandchildren Ginger and Ray Stephens, Cousin Elaine, her Borel/Boswell Family, her VPSO Family and a host of family and friends who will always love her dearly.
