Obituary for Gerald Wayne Hyatt
A graveside service for Gerald Wayne Hyatt will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Plainview Cemetery with George Treutlein officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Please follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.
Mr. Hyatt was born October 16, 1943 in Many, LA and passed away August 30, 2020 in Beaumont, TX at the age of 76. He enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, and one of his favorite things to do was to relax and drink Diet Coke. Mr. Hyatt owned and operated Crossroads Hardware and Farm Supply in Hornbeck, and he thoroughly enjoyed using his vast knowledge of auto parts to help his customers. His Christian faith was strong and reading the Bible was important to him. For many years, he faithfully served his church, Plainview Baptist. He truly loved being there and was the music leader for a time. He loved the Lord and his family with his whole heart.
Mr. Hyatt was preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Gunivere “Gwen” Hyatt and parents, Mac Calpen Hyatt and Aletha Beatrice Coburn Hyatt.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Wayne Hyatt and wife Angelia of Anacoco, LA,
daughter, Brenda Sue Hyatt Hanks and husband Glenn of Sulphur, LA,
stepdaughter, Karen Joy Shavers Strickland and husband Danny of Anacoco, LA,
brother, Michael Lynn Hyatt and wife Joy Ann of Hornbeck, LA,
grandchildren, Daniel, Darren, and Wesley Strickland; Tyler Anthony and Jeremy Caleb Hanks; and Bethany Kara and Joshua Drew Hyatt,
great grandchildren, Creed Anthony Hanks, TimberLee Reese Strickland, Ayden Hovermale, Mayzile Hovermale, and Memphis Rutherford.
and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Robert Hyatt, Glenn Hanks, Tyler Hanks, Jeremy Hanks, Joshua Hyatt, Danny Strickland, and Darren Strickland.
