A graveside service with full military honors for George Thomas LeFort will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Shane Freeman officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
George was born July 16, 1963, in Lynnwood, California and passed away at his home in Anacoco, LA at the age of 59. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard for 22 years. During that time, he was deployed to Iraq, and George also worked as a federal technician at Fort Polk for the Louisiana Army National Guard. He enjoyed the simple things in life like drinking a cold Bud Light and spending time with his family. They were the most important thing to him.
George was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Loran LeFort; brother, Mario George Mejia; and sister, Yolanda Lynn Lopez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 16 years, Melissa Ann LeFort of Anacoco, LA;
mother, Shirlie Ellen Walker and husband Chuck of Las Vegas, NV;
sons, Cody Lee Lefort of Leesville, Darien Thomas LeFort of Leesville, Devon Jamahl Perkins of Atlanta, GA, Conner Dalton LeFort of Leesville, and Matthew Gene Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA;
granddaughter, Zariyah Faye Perkins;
sisters, Malissa Ann Hernandez and husband Leo of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Heidi Marie LeFort of Ontario, CA;
and a host of extended family members and friends.
