Obituary for George Luis Roman
George, 67, a local of Leesville, L.A. for over 30 years, passed away on June 19, 2021.
George Luis Roman Jr. was born June 26, 1953, in New York, New York to his father Jorge Luis Roman Sr., and his mother Cylis Roman. George grew up with his three sisters, Evelin, Celis, and Carmen.
George was preceded in death by said parents and sisters.
As a teen, George loved being outdoors and active; he enjoyed spending his days playing basketball at the public park with friends. As George got older, he became passionate about pursuing a career in law enforcement. He obtained his GED and joined the U.S. Army where he gave an accumulated 17 years of service to his country. In the military, George acquired his associates degree in business and shortly after his first tour, he became a New York City police officer which led to his extensive career in corrections and law enforcement.
At the age of 19, George met the love of his life in New York City, his wife, Yolanda. When courting, George loved treating Yoli to trips through Manhattan, taking in the sites of Times Square, and getting to know each other over long walks and lunch dates. George and Yolanda Roman of Leesville committed their lives to one another for over 47 years of marriage. Yolanda will forever miss her beloved husband whom she loved since the tender age of 15. George and Yolanda went on to grow their family and share their love with their four beautiful children. George loved to take the children on family trips, have neighborhood barbecues, and teach anyone who’d let him, how to dance the salsa!
The children left to cherish George’s memory are sons, George Roman III of Texas, Michael Roman, and wife Cynthia of Florida, and Hector Roman of Leesville, L.A.; and
Daughter, Jennifer Schuster, and husband David of Rosepine, L.A.; and
Grandchildren, Savina Roman, George Roman IV, and wife Amy, Brandon Roman, Anya Roman, Anthony Roman, Alexa Roman, Isabella Schuster, and Olivia Schuster; and
One great grandchild on the way; and a host of extended family.
George Luis Roman will be greatly missed but his legacy will forever live on through his loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Central Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery at 10:00 AM under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
