Obituary for George Andrew Tharp
Graveside services for George Andrew Tharp will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Leesville Cemetery at 9:30 AM with Pastor Mark Christian officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
George Andrew Tharp was born on April 1, 1961, in Leesville, LA to George and Betty Jones Tharp. He passed away on December 19, 2021, in Leesville, LA at the age of 60. He was a 1980 graduate of Leesville High School. After graduation, he worked in west Texas as a surveyor and later was employed by Burns Electric and Shapkoff Moving and Storage company. He loved to hunt for arrowheads and has an impressive collection; also, he enjoyed fishing. He always had a joke and could make you laugh. He was a simple man and a loyal friend that will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Tharp and Betty Jones Tharp.
He is survived by his son Shawn Andrew Tharp of Alabama,
sister, Cindy Nelson and husband Tommy of Leesville, LA,
aunt, Barbara Burns of Leesville, LA,
nieces, Amber Tannery and husband Jason, of Leesville, LA and Danielle Gibson and husband Clay of Lake Village, Arkansas,
cousin, Cody Burns and wife Rachel, of Leesville, LA,
life-long friend, Doug Redfearin. and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Oschner’s of New Orleans, as well as Hospice of Leesville for their compassionate care. Also, the family would like to acknowledge Pastor Mark Christian and their church family at First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville for the many prayers and acts of kindness extended to them during this time.
