Obituary for Gary Lynn Green
Funeral services for Gary Lynn Green will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at First Assembly of God in Simpson with Reverends Houston Burns Jr. and Dean Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Gary was born January 20, 1968 in Fort Polk, LA and passed away December 26, 2020 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 52. He served six years in the Army and worked as a lineman for over twenty years. During that time, he worked as a foreman for SWEPCO. Gary had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. He almost always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed roping, hunting, fishing, and mentoring kids who were learning to rope. They looked up to him and called him Pops. Gary especially loved his grandchildren and family.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Eloise Green and son, Gator Green.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl Green of Hicks,
sons, Justin Green and wife Mylissa of Pitkin, and Tyler Green and wife Kyley of Simpson,
grandchildren, Hunter, Laythen, Jayden, McKinley, Paisley, Cameron, Lynlee, Ansley, and Shayla,
father, Jerry C. Green
siblings, Marcel Green and wife Misty of Simpson, Bob Green and wife Michelle of Gardner, Pam Whisenant and husband Clifton of Proctor, and Kenneth Green and wife Stephanie of Leesville
and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Casey Havens, Chris Foster, Scott Parker, Brayden McMillan, Dean Hinton, and Wacey Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Brenden Jeter and Kenneth Green.
