Obituary for Gary Beaver Moore Sr.
A graveside service for Gary Beaver Moore Sr. will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, 132 Jackson Road Leesville, LA 71446 with Reverend Mark Christian officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Gary was born June 6, 1939, in Leesville, LA and passed away February 4, 2022, in Alexandria, LA at the age of 82. He was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and graduated from Northwestern State University with a dual English and Math degree. He also earned a Masters plus 30 in Education. Gary taught school in Vernon Parish and then worked in Civil Service in the Education Center at Fort Polk for 27 years. He really enjoyed helping soldiers get their education. Gary was a published author who loved poetry, especially poems he wrote about his beloved Gloria Jean. His other love was archeology, hunting gems, minerals, and Indian artifacts. Gary was saved at age 14 at the Leesville United Pentecostal Church. He never wanted to miss any church service and enjoyed attending services and singing songs until he was called home.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Jean Burns Moore; parents, Woodie and Reba Moore; and sister, Sharon Moore Baltzgar.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Gary B. Moore Jr. and wife Virginia and Greg B. Moore and wife Tammy all of Leesville, LA;
grandchildren, Tanner Moore, Emily Moore, Joshua Moore, and Kelsie Moore;
great-granddaughter, Adeline;
brother, Michael L. Moore;
sisters, Madeline S. Porter and Mary J. Terry;
and a host of extended family members.
