Obituary for Fredrick Thomas Turner
Funeral services for Fredrick “Fred” Turner will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Hornbeck First Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Self Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Fred was born February 18, 1934, and passed away March 2, 2022, at the age of 88. He worked for years in various jobs including hauling pulp wood, working on the railroad, and working on a chicken farm. For many years, Fred lived in Hornbeck, Louisiana where he faithfully attended Hornbeck First Baptist Church. He set an example by being in the Lord’s house nearly every Sunday. Fred’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching Westerns, and listening to southern gospel music. He enjoyed taking things apart and rebuilding them. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Benny Edward Turner and Effie Beatrice Turner and siblings, John D., Benny, James, Wayne, & Myrtle Turner and Beatrice Lofton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Kevin Gene Turner and wife Joleen of Orange, TX;
daughters, Denise Marie Turner of Livingston, TX and Melinda Beatrice Turner Wiggins and husband Elvis of Arkansas;
grandchildren, Aaron Rodgers and wife Ariel, Brittany Turner, Courtney Dixson and husband Trace, Ivan Haines, and Alyssa Turner;
great-grandchildren, Ayden Leger, Kayleb Dixson and Knoxley Dixson;
sister, Mary Turner Tanner of Hornbeck, LA;
former wife, Diane Shaw;
and a host of extended family members and friends.
