Obituary for Emerson Elroy Treme
Funeral services for Emerson Elroy Treme will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Cooper Baptist Church with Pastor Edgar Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held Sunday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Elroy was born February 3, 1951 in DeQuincy, LA and passed away on January 21, 2021 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 69. He worked as a logger for 50 years and was an active deacon at Cooper Baptist Church. For many years, Elroy fought several health problems. He never complained, and when he was very sick he would say, “Just get me to the woods and I’ll be alright.” He had a big heart and always put others before himself. Elroy enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His faith and family were the most important things to him.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, Amerson Joseph Treme and Mildred Berry Treme; niece, Shann “Smoo” Treme; and nephew, Jared McDaniel.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 50 years, Rita Treme of Leesville,
daughters, Missy Jones and husband Todd of Many and Trudy Slotnick and husband Joe of Leesville,
brother, Gary Treme and wife Dorothy of Leesville,
sister, Mavis Odette and husband Ed of Leesville,
grandchildren, Carson Jones, Alex Slotnick, and Lexi Slotnick,
and nieces and nephews, Becky Bauer and husband Paul, Dusty Treme, and Scotty O’Hara.
Pallbearers will be Joe Slotnick, Paul Eaves, Jay Donaldson, Scott O’Hara, Dan Atchinson, and Alex Slotnick. Honorary pallbearer will be Bob Henry.
