Obituary for Elmer "Jake" James Jr.

Funeral services for Elmer James Jr. (Jake) will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Hicks First United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Greg Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Star Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Jeanes’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, September 16th from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. for the family and 5:00 p.m. until time of service for family and friends.

Jake was born June 10, 1979, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away September 14, 2022, at the age of 43. He attended Hicks High School and his hobbies included baseball, football, and riding horses (the wilder, the better). He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. Jake had a smile that was contagious and a laugh that will never be forgotten. His passion was for the oilfield where he has surely left his mark. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jake was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian James and his son, Jesse Lane James.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Frank Dawson James of Deville, LA;

father, Elmer James Sr. of Hicks, LA;

mother, Lugene Qualls (Wayne), of Tennessee;

two brothers, Cody Wheeler (Rejena) of Leesville and Toby James of Hicks;

two sisters, Stacey Martin, (Toby) of Grant, LA and Sabrina James of Tennessee;

and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews along with many friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be David Harvey Jr., Benjamin Cardy, Carl Bennett, Carlan Hagan, Matthew Golemon, Toby Martin, and Anthony James.
