Edith (Edie) Willow Lea Fox Mitchell was born April 18, 1944 in Pineville, LA and passed away February 19, 2020 at the age of 75. She retired from Ft. Polk after 33 years of serving as a budget analyst. She was a lifelong member of Canaan Baptist Church. Edie personified the true meaning of making others happy and expressing love and kindness unconditionally. Her heart was filled with the love of Christ; which flowed to all those lucky enough to know her…with friends and family, especially her husband of 58 years, her three children and their spouses, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She loved them each and every one so very dearly.
Being the youngest of eight, and having her parents pass away when she was just twelve years of age, molded her into the strong, loving woman she grew to be. Edie made sure her children were in church whenever the doors were open. She truly steered them in the direction they should go. Edie had a passion for gardening and sewing. She sewed her daughter’s clothes, as well as, made matching outfits for their Barbie dolls. Edie also loved to cook. She would plan huge holiday meals for her children and grandchildren…she would even let them eat on the eve of the holiday. Her heart was full in seeing everyone enjoy their favorite dishes. After the passing of her husband, Edie resided at Arbor Rose Assisted Living in Farmerville, LA. Edie will always be remembered, by her family and friends as someone who lit up the room when she entered. She was truly one incredibly beautiful woman, wife, mother and friend…. inside and out and left a legacy of how to love unconditionally.
