Obituary for Earl "Buddy" James Jr.
Funeral services for Earl Buddy James Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Hicks United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Greg Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in Glass Window Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday, October 18th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. for family and will begin at 2:00 for friends. The visitation will continue until the time of service on Tuesday.
Buddy was born May 8, 1941, in Dog Branch, Louisiana and passed away October 16, 2021, in Alexandria, LA at the age of 80. He was a lifelong resident of the Hicks Community and an ordained minister. He pastored for a while at Pisgah Baptist Church then was the assistant pastor at Walnut Hill United Pentecostal Church. Buddy was a member of Castor Baptist Church then later attended Hicks United Pentecostal. Gardening was something he thoroughly enjoyed, and he liked to plow with horses and mules. Buddy also raised animals. He had an easy smile and loved everyone. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, April Faye Setliff James; daughter, Donna Metcalf; grandchildren, Wyatt Earl James and Brooklyn Paige Bourke; parents, Elmer Earl James Sr. and Audrey Bryant James; brothers, W.L. Bynog and L.O. Bynog; sister, L.D. Henry; and daughter-in-law, Cindy James.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Danny K. James and wife Edie of Hicks, LA, Donny James and wife Pat of Lady Lake, FL, Dwight James and wife Glenda of New Llano, and Darwin James and wife Sommer of Simpson, LA;
daughters, Delores Bourke and husband Kevin of Simpson, LA and Deanna Hall and husband Thomas of Slagle, LA;
son-in-law, Tom Metcalf
grandchildren, Danny James Jr and wife Rhiannon, Erin Gass, Amy James, Amanda Robles, Deidre Golemon and husband Josh, Hunter James, Madison James, Beau James, Cheyenne Bernal and husband Cody, Dwight James Jr., Keeley James, Faith James, Isabella James and fiancée Jorden Northup, Christian Gattis, Kamryn Bourke, Greg Bourke and wife Amber, and Bianca Bourke;
great grandchildren, Gracie, Haisley, Delia, Dylon, Mark, Caiden, Nathan, Hudsen, and Braxten;
great-great grandchild, Damon;
brothers, F.B. James and Elmer James;
sisters, Florein Drake, Pearlie Lewis, Connie Harvey, Audrey Hagan, and Earline Bennett;
and a host of extended family members;
a special friend Jaret Hunter Moore;
Pallbearers will be Danny James Sr., Donny James, Dwight James, Sr., Darwin James, Dwight James Jr., and L.J. James. Honorary pallbearers will be Kamryn Bourke, Greg Bourke, Mark Robles, Hunter James, and Beau James.
