Dwight “Cowboy” Thames Bentley was born on July 15, 1964, in Lufkin, Texas to Hubert and Jimmie. He passed away October 13, 2022, at the age of 58. Cowboy owned a few businesses from washing windows to replacing roofs and these included Bentley’s Window Washing and Bentley’s Gifts and Collectables. He was so proud of his last name. There was nothing that Cowboy didn’t know about rebuilding or remodeling a home. He could tell you the secret on how to get rich quick but was never able to find a way to apply it to himself. Cowboy was always able to find a way to support himself with what little he had. He was loved by everyone around him, and they loved him and his cooking. His love for music and karaoke was out of the world. Some would say he couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but it did not stop him from playing and singing at the top of his lungs.
His love for Donna was so great. They supported each other in every way all the way to the end of both of their lives. He was heartbroken when she passed before he did.
Cowboy was preceded in death by his father, Hubert and mother, Jimmie. He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth, Candice, Dwight, and Rebeca; sister, Chelly; and grandchildren, Lelan, Gabriel, Crimson, and Beckham; and his favorite niece, Dawndi.
A memorial service will be held for Cowboy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Castor Baptist Church in Leesville.
