Obituary for Dr. Ralph "Mike" Michael Hennessee
Dr. Ralph Michael Hennessee went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2021. Dr. Mike as he was better known was born in Port Arthur, Texas on May 8, 1946. He always claimed he was born in the wrong state and was thankful when his family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma making him a loyal lifetime fan of OU at six weeks of age.
Dr. Mike graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School and then joined the Army. While in the Army, he served in Korea and Viet Nam returning to the states to attend jump (paratroop) school. Upon the completion of jump school, he attended the Army career school. Then Dr. Mike entered the University of Missouri Dental School where he received his specialty in Pedodontics. Afterwards he received orders to Ft. Polk where he was honorably discharged and made Leesville his home.
Dr. Mike was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Leesville Lions Club, creator of Dentist With a Heart Day, a missionary with BMDMI and a member of the Sabine Mission Team. He celebrated 50 years of dentistry in 2019 and continued beyond to pursue his passion. While Dr. Mike loved dentistry, to him it was just a means to serve. He never stopped looking for ways to brighten the lives of others. While silently done and never spoken of, he never stopped giving to others. He truly believed the purpose of life was to serve.
Left to cherish the memories of Dr. Mike are his wife Phylliss (Bradshaw) Hennessee, two daughters Allyson Hennessee and Michael Hennessee of New Orleans, present and past staff of West Louisiana Dental, and many extended family members and friends.
Dr. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Alford and Joyce Hennessee and two brothers Patrick and Jeffery Hennessee.
Officiating the services are Brother Jeffery Coleman and Brother Benjie Colvin. Both not only great friends but true servants of God.
Pallbearers are Danny Cedars, Jesse Brandon, Luke Brandon, Joey Williams, Tryon Williams, and Austin Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. George “Doug” Brandon, Chuck Dowden, Dr. Matt Ganey, Dr. Sean Smith, Dr. Kevin Hamilton, and Luis Cardenas.
Special thanks to Dr. Doug Brandon, Dr. Greg Lord, Bimbo West, Jimmy Rogers and all the many friends who either visited, sent cards, called, brought food and most of all for the many prayers.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Mike requested that donations be made to Leesville First Baptist Church building fund, 1400 Nolan Trace, Leesville, La 71446, or BMDMI (Baptist Medical Dental Mission International) or the Sabine Mission Team. Checks may be made payable to First Baptist Ft. Jesup-BMDMI and the address is 191 Benjie Colvin Road, Natchitoches, LA 71457. In Memo section of check state BMDMI General or BMDMI Sabine Team.
Dr. Mike was a true believer in the Great Commission - Matthew 28:16-20.
