Obituary for Douglas Arthur McArthur
Funeral services honoring the life of Douglas Arthur McArthur will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 2:00PM at Union Baptist Church in Florien with Bro. Rusty Silvertooth and Michael McArthur officiating. Burial will follow in Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, at Union Baptist Church beginning at 5:00 PM and continuing until time of service on Wednesday.
Douglas “Doug” was born July 4, 1946, in Crossett, AR to Woodrow and Ida McArthur. His faith became sight on February 25, 2024, with family by his side.
He grew up in Portland and followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a farmer. In 1993, he followed the Lord’s leading and moved his family to Florien, LA, where he spent the next 20 plus years driving a log truck for Jenkins Logging until he retired.
He married Deborah Tice McArthur on November 15, 1972. To that union, they added five children. He and Deborah’s main goal was to ensure that their children knew the Lord personally so that his family circle would be unbroken.
The great loves of his life were God and his word, family and gardening.
Loved ones gone before include his parents Woodrow and Ida McArthur and sister, Ann Hicks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Deborah McArthur
children, Jennifer McArthur of Hornbeck, Michael McArthur and wife Cristi of Huxley, TX, Jason McArthur and wife Rebecca of Bossier City, Anna “4” McArthur of Florien, and Deborah “Dee” McArthur of Shreveport;
brother, Tommy McArthur of Portland, AR;
grandchildren, Micah, Emily, Cameron, Aaron, Madison, Malachi, Chloe, Wesley, Leah, Kennedy, Matthias, and Jaxsyn;
great grandchildren, Brysen, Audrey, Aubrey, Raelynn, Trey Alan, Cambree, and Reid.
Serving as pallbearers will be Micah McArthur, Aaron Lafargue, Wesley McArthur, Malachi McArthur, Jaxsyn Behan, Matthias McArthur, Buzz Jenkins, Josh Jenkins, Robert McArthur and Bill McArthur.
Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Behan, Gary DuBose, Wayne Berry, Marvin Wyatt, and Cameron Lafargue
