Obituary for Dorothy Marie Thompson
Graveside services for Dorothy Marie Thompson will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 10:00AM, at the Central Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery with Bro. Edgar Evans officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St., Leesville, LA from 5:00 – 9:00 PM.
Dorothy Marie Popkins Thompson was born October 15, 1945 in Ranson, West Virginia to Charles and Dorothy Hough Popkins. She passed away on December 21, 2020, in Shreveport, LA, at the age of 75. She was a naval spouse and a long time resident of Vernon Parish. She was an avid bowler and former member of the “Road Runners” bowling team. She was back to back champion of the Ft. Polk King of the Hill bowling tournament. Also, she enjoyed all Pickering High School sports, along with bingo and going to the casino. She loved to travel and see her family. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thompson Sr., son, James Earl Thompson, brothers, Wayne Popkins and James “Hoppy” Popkins, and sisters, Nancy Armstrong and Peggy Wilson.
She is survived by daughters Michele Hamilton, of Leesville, and Kathy Conrad and husband Scotty of Colombus, OH
Sons, Cecil Thompson Jr, and wife Cheryl of West Plains, MO, David Thompson and wife Heather of Leesville, and Douglas Thompson of Leesville, LA
Brothers, Bill Popkins and Gene Popkins of West Virginia
Sisters, Betty Popkins and Donna Greenwalt of West Virginia
