Mama Dot, born Dorothy Lee Egan, was born on the warm Saturday of June 18, 1932, in the family home in Evans, Louisiana. She was the third gift to parents, Myrtle Erma Egan (Evans) and Lonnie Lawrence Egan and was raised with her siblings, Constance Miller (Loftin), Marcia Brown (Egan), Judith Cryer (Egan), Bobby Lawrence Egan, Beverly Arnold (Egan). Called Dotty by her parents, Dorothy had a simple country childhood in Evans where she found great joy in playing with her cousins, camping, and her eventual lifelong passion sewing.
When an older Dorothy was introduced to Bill Littleton by her sister Judith, she quickly fell in love. Dorothy and Bill were married in 1952. They had four children together, daughter Cherie Littleton, and sons, Randal “Randy” Littleton, William Heath Littleton, and Lonnie Britt Littleton. Shortly after the birth of Randy, the family moved to Houston, Texas where she would begin her strong family roots and became Mama Dot.
Once the grandchildren were born, Mama Dot became a deep and unending well of love and home cooked meals to her ever-growing family. Almost every one of them can remember the smell of bacon, eggs and toast filling the house in the mornings, and a hearty meal to eat in the evenings. No one went hungry at Mama Dot’s house.
Mama Dot was a faithful Baptist, who enjoyed going to church and sharing the love of Christ with those around her.
Welcoming her to Heaven are her husband, Bill Littleton; parents, Myrtle and Lonnie Egan; and her siblings, Connie Miller, Marcia Brown, Judith Cryer, and Bobby Egan.
She is survived by her sister, Beverly Arnold; her children, Cherie, Randy, Heath, and Britt Littleton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild! As well as many cousins, distant relatives, and family friends.
