Obituary for Dorothy Jean Sills Gattis
A graveside service for Dorothy Jean Sills Gattis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation time for the family and friends of Mrs. Gattis will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service on November 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Mrs. Gattis was born April 28, 1936, and passed away October 30, 2019, at the age of 83. She was a military wife and enjoyed watching the Saints play football, visiting the bookmobile, and was an incredible artist. She was recognized for her artwork. Mrs. Gattis earned a Master’s Degree in sociology before becoming a counselor at McNeese University.
Mrs. Gattis was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roosevelt Gattis Sr.; son, Roosevelt Gattis Jr.; daughter, Debbie Gattis; and parents, Earl Jefferson Sills and Velma Ray Prince Cravens.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Colin “Rocky” Gattis and wife Carla of Leesville, LA and Jeff Gattis and wife Jessica of Pickering, LA,
brother, Earl Wayne Sills of Grenada, MS,
sisters, Shirley Walker of Sheridan, CA and Brenda Sefers and husband Tommy of Harrisburg, AR,
grandchildren, Joshua Gattis, Jordan Gattis and wife Bethany, Justin Gattis and wife Ariel, Ashley Gattis, Christian Gattis, Patrick Robinson, Jacquelyn Robinson, and Kristen Robinson,
seven great grandchildren, special friends, April Gritta and Debra Wilt, and a host of extended family.
