Obituary for Donald Wayne Collins
Funeral services for Donald Wayne Collins will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Simpson Baptist Church with Reverends Paul Watts and Jeremy Blocker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation time for the family and friends of Mr. Collins will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19th at Simpson Baptist Church.
Mr. Collins was born on June 10, 1949, and passed away at home surrounded by family on June 17, 2019, at the age of 70. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, but grew up in the Simpson area. In 1967, Mr. Collins graduated from Simpson High School and then joined the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. After leaving the Army, he worked in Civil Service at Fort Polk. Mr. Collins was a member of Simpson Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. His family was the most important thing to him, and he loved watching his grandkids grow and enjoyed any activity they were involved in.
Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Morgan Collins and Bernadean Marie Collins and his brother, Dale Collins.
Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life and his wife of 50 years, Patsy Collins, of Simpson, LA
children, Darran and Dawn Collins of Pineville, LA and Justin and Girly Collins of Kistachie, LA
sister, Brenda Burgess and husband Ricky of Simpson, LA
precious grandchildren, Katelyn Collins, Emily Collins, Alex Collins, and Wesley Collins
and two very special men, Lamar Miller and Royce Johnson (deceased), who led Donald to salvation.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Collins, Greg Rachal, Carl Cedars, Roy Owens, Dale Allbritton, and Sammy Edwards.
