Donald David Owens, 83, of Simpson, LA passed from this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 27, 1937 in Leesville, LA. He graduated from Simpson High School and continued his education at McNeese State University. Donald worked for the Federal Civil Service for 41 years. After his retirement, he held numerous positions for the Village of Simpson including serving as Alderman, in the Neighborhood Watch, and for the Simpson Cemetery Association. Donald also served on several committees within the Simpson Baptist Church. As a young man, his love for music led him to travel the state to churches performing gospel music with the “Harmony Four Quartet”. He was not only blessed with a beautiful voice but also blessed with the talent of playing the piano and organ. Many a congregation was uplifted by his unique energy and sound. Donald loved being outdoors working in his flower beds, fixing things, and just piddling. You might see him traveling down the back roads of Simpson on his tractor on his way to help a neighbor. The wildlife that roamed his property became a passion to Donald. He would make sure the birds and squirrels had plenty to eat and that the deer had a safe place to raise their young. Donald enjoyed making a safe haven for the beautiful creatures and would even have the squirrels eating out of his hands. Precious the Poodle, also known as PTO (Precious Trouble Owens), was his partner in crime. They were always getting into sticky situations. Donald would ride around the community with Precious while she barked her loud and shrill bark. Who knew a little dog could be so loud? He loved her and she loved him. It was their thing. He was a caring, patient, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend and will be truly missed.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, David Everette Owens and Donna Cooley Owens; son, David Ezra Owens; sister, Bobbye Gordy; brothers, Delmond Owens, Wayne Owens, and Everette Owens Jr.; and nephew, Mark Owens.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, best friend since they were teenagers, and the love of his life, Linda Rose Temple Owens,
daughter, Donna Dianne Burns (Mike),
four grandchildren, Robert Owens, Christina Storm, Matthew Douzart, and Byron Douzart,
seven great grandchildren, Skyla Owens, Sylvia & Kaiser Storm, and Gavin, Lawson, Rowan & Shyanne Douzart,

and his beloved extended family and Precious Owens (the poodle).
