Obituary for Don Lee Kay
Don Lee Kay, 91, of Amarillo, went to his Heavenly home on April 7, 2023.
Local funeral services will be at 10:00 ANM on April 14, 2023, at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia. Graveside services will be on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana.
Don was the fifth of six children born to Payne Brown Kay and Belle O’Banion Kay in Leesville, Louisiana.
Don was a mason for over 65 years and was a member of Travis Lodge #117 in Sherman, Texas. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Amarillo and was very active until his health declined.
Don worked for seventeen years for Army & Air Force Exchange services at several military bases in management before beginning his sales career with Plains Dairy for thirty years. He retired in 2003.
Don was a kind soul with a gentle spirit; he loved and appreciated the people around him. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; his two sons, Shane and Toliver; and his puppy, Benjamin.
He is survived by one daughter, Terah Leah Cochran, and husband, Tim; two grandchildren, Cristah Cochran and Heath Cochran and his wife Reba; two great-grandchildren, Cloey and Quinn; a special family friend and Gunner’s new mom, Deborah Pitt.
