Obituary for Don "Donny" Keith Powell
Funeral services for Don “Donny” Keith Powell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Union Baptist Church, 39200 Hwy. 171 Florien, LA, with Reverend Gary Porch officiating. Burial will follow in Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Don was born February 18, 1967, in Many, Louisiana and passed away January 29, 2022, at his home in Hornbeck, Louisiana at the age of 54. He lived in Hornbeck all of his life and worked for Enterprise Professional Services as a custodian. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time reading his Bible. Don aspired to spread God’s word through preaching and had nearly completed the Bible study course at Union Baptist. He worked as a mechanic when he was able to do so and liked to find out how things worked. Don also liked to fish, solve puzzles, ride four wheelers, tinker, and was learning to play the guitar. He especially loved to spend time with his family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jimmy” R. Powell and Daisy L. Brown Powell and nephew, Anthony “Tony” Duncan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Wayne Powell and wife Janet of Hornbeck, LA, Doyle Powell and wife Cindy of Hornbeck, and Gene Powell of TX;
sisters, Glenda Powell Broyles and husband Charles of Hornbeck, LA and Tammy Summers and husband David of Evans, LA;
nephews and nieces, Ken Powell, Jimmy Powell, Mark Powell, Matthew Summers, Patrick Summers, Aaron Powell, Sherry Dugas, Kami Jones, Heather Maggard, and Marissa Powell;
and a host of great nephews & nieces and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Ken Powell, David Summers, Patrick Summers, Charles Broyles, Daryl Procell, Larry Brown, and James “Hootie” Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Powell, Jimmy Powell, Mark Powell, and Matthew Summers.
