Obituary for Dixie Gail Nicholson

Funeral services for Dixie Gail Nicholson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with Reverend Jason Nolde officiating. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Skidmore, Sam Fertitta Jr., James Carpenter II, Shawn Hensley, Mark Hensley, and Jason Maranto. Honorary pallbearer will be Hayden Maranto. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, September 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Dixie was born February 5, 1956, in Neosho, Missouri and passed away September 17, 2022, in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 66. She worked for many years in the real estate industry and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church where she served faithfully. One of her favorite things to do was travel, and Dixie was always willing to lend a helping hand to her friends and family. She was very close to her sister, Anita. In fact, they were best friends. Dixie was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Gene Holler and Juanita Marie Penn Holler; granddaughter, Madison Nicholson; and niece, Tara Michelle Canales.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wendy Libich Maranto and husband Jason of Walker, LA, Jason D. Nicholson and wife Natalia of San Antonio, TX, and Jonathan Nicholson of Summit, MS;

sisters, Terry Jean Canales and husband Miguel of Savanna, GA, Debra Louise Holler-Allen of Alaska, and Anita G. Hensley of New Llano, LA;

cousin, Gary Penn and wife Peggy of Lampasa, TX;

significant other, Tommy Williams;

grandchildren, Makenzie Nicholson, J.D. Nicholson, Alexis Nicholson, Hayden Maranto, Jaxon Nicholson, Kieran Nicholson, Lilian Maranto, and Zaylee Nicholson;

nephews, Shawn Hensley, Mark Hensley, Richard Whatley, and Miguelito Canales;

and extended family members and friends.
