Obituary for Dennis Albert Rivers
Funeral services for Dennis Albert Rivers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Oak Forest Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Call officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation for Mr. Rivers will be held at the church on Friday, December 27th beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service on Saturday.
Dennis was born December 4, 1952 and passed away December 25, 2019 at the age of 67. He was a native of Florida, but grew up in Plattsburg, New York. Dennis joined the U.S. Army and while serving his country, he met the love of his life, Emily. They settled in Vernon Parish where he worked in the butane gas business for many years. Throughout his career, Dennis worked for several companies including Holicer Gas Company, Parker Propane, and Atchinson Butane. He was of the catholic faith. Dennis was a hard worker and in his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Michael Rivers; parents, Joseph Albert Rivers and Lita Polly Jarvis Rivers; and brothers, Gene, Rodney, and Robert Rivers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Emily Herrington Rivers,
son, Joey Bouyea of Plattsburg, NY,
sister, Karen Marie LePage of Plattsburg, NY,
grandchildren, Tyler Rivers, Trent Rivers, Scott Bouyea, Miranda Bouyea, and Levi Bouyea,
great grandchildren, Gary and Joanna,
and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Rivers, Rodney Haymon, Kenny Haymon, Jonathan Hilton, Ernie Hilton, and Kaleb Atkinson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Trent Rivers.
