Obituary for Darrell Wayne Westmoreland

Darrell “Wayne” Westmoreland, 78, of Leesville, Louisiana died at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas on November 1, 2022, with his loving wife at his side. Wayne was born in Leesville on February 21, 1944, to Hubert and Carlene Westmoreland. After graduating from Leesville High School in 1962, he joined the United States Marine Corp in January 1963. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan; Camp LeJuene, North Carolina; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and DaNang, South Vietnam. Upon returning to Camp LaJuene, Wayne met the love of his life, his wife of fifty-five years, Carol Kelley Westmoreland. During his working life Wayne was a building contractor. During slower periods he worked offshore. Many people are proud to say that Wayne Westmoreland built their home. In his free time his passions were fishing, hunting, and camping. Wayne told the time of year by what hunting season it was. He enjoyed fellowshipping around the campfire and cooking outdoors.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Willard Westmoreland; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Westmoreland and Linda Kay Garner Westmoreland.

two brothers, Jerry Westmoreland of Baton Rouge, LA and Bob Westmoreland (Ruth Ann) of Leesville;
