Obituary for Danny DeWayne Hunt
Matthew 5:9 (KJ): Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.

Danny Hunt slipped off to his reward on Friday, June 26, 2021 at Dubuis/Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a lifelong resident of New Llano/Leesville, Louisiana who loved and served his community with devotion. Danny was the oldest son of Murray Clyde and Virginia Hunt of Leesville, LA and was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debby Mace. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Johnson Hunt of New Llano, LA; two sons, Christopher Ahmed and wife Beth Ahmed of Sicily Island, LA and Jeremy Hunt of New Llano, LA; daughter, Samantha Maybern and husband Jarod Maybern of Fort Bragg, NC; five grandchildren, Ryleigh Ahmed, Peyton Ahmed, Cade Ahmed, Liam Maybern, and Elijah Maybern; sister, Dechelle Kreyenbuhl and husband John Kreyenbuhl; three brothers, Denny Hunt and wife Donna Hunt, David Hunt and wife Shirley Hunt, and Derry Hunt and wife Sandra Hunt all of Leesville, LA; and nieces and nephews, Lauren Kreyenbuhl, Logan Kreyenbuhl, Dustin Hunt, Courtney Hunt, Casey Hunt and wife Amber, Kelsey Street and husband Josh, Alesha Cavanaugh and husband Jim, Megan Carlock, Bobby Mace, Joe Fuller and wife Grace, Karen Hillman and husband Dobin Hillman, Steven Paddy and wife J.J. and Stephanie Paddy and husband Jamie; and many great nieces and great nephews that he loved with all his heart.
Danny had a true servant’s heart. He was always serving God first and his community. Everyone knew the coffee pot was on and he would tell anyone and everyone, “Come and drink some coffee.” Danny loved serving as a police officer, firearms instructor, Louisiana Hunter Safety Course Instructor, Notary, and as a past DARE Officer. He has proudly served at both the City of Leesville Police Department and the Vernon Parish Sheriff Department. His heart belonged to the community of New Llano where he was currently serving as the Chief of Police. He served the West CenLa Shrine Club as President for many years, was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #240, and a board member of Vernon Action Council of Leesville. Through all of his community service he was a proud Wampus Cat, Class of ‘77.
Danny loved Facebook and sharing his positive words of wisdom with his friends and family. He never let being an amputee slow him down and was an inspiration for so many others in his life. He led by example showing others that no matter the hardships one will face, there is always something that one can do and an opportunity to give back to one’s community. Danny was a strong man of faith that never faltered. Even when things were the hardest, he would say, “I am not worried, I believe in God and I know where I am going.”

EOW: June 25, 2021 Mark NL1 10-7. Go to your reward good and faithful servant, we got it from here, we promise to remember your kindness for others and pay it forward.

Matthew 25:23: His Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord”.
