Obituary for Curtis "Kookie" Knapp
Curtis “Kookie” Knapp, 55, of Deridder, LA, passed away on March 16, 2022.
Curtis was born on November 2, 1966, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Steven and Marlene Knapp (Schwem). Upon graduation in 1985, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Drill Sergeant, Combat Engineer and Ranger until his retirement. He served multiple deployments overseas throughout his military career while serving in the 101st Airborne Division. After he retired from the U.S. Army, he continued to serve as a government employee at Fort Polk, LA.
“Kookie”, as his Brother’s called him, had so many amazing qualities. However, if you have ever met him, the one quality that stood out was his leadership ability. Throughout his entire life, he led by example in everything he did. He was an extremely compassionate and giving person who would do anything for his family and the few he called his brothers. He leaves behind a worldwide family in AMERICAN STEEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, that will honor his memory and continue to know him as a legend.
He is preceded in death by his previous wife, Lisa Knapp, formerly of Red Springs, NC.
Curtis is survived by his dad and mom, Steven and Marlene Knapp of Waterloo, IA; wife, Daisy Magaso of Deridder; sons, Travis Knapp of Rawley, NC, Kevin Bounds of KY, Dyson Magaso of Deridder, and Kenni Knapp of Deridder; daughter, Brittany Hudson and husband Joey of Granbury, TX; granddaughter, Zoey; brother Bruce and wife Christine Knapp of Murrieta, CA; sister Melissa and husband Robert Shea of Cedar Rapids, IA; and extended family and numerous friends.
A memorial service to honor Curtis’s life will be held at 9:00 a.m. on April 9, 2022, at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA 71446.
