Obituary for Colman Glen Owens
Funeral services for Colman Glen Owens will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Walnut Hill United Pentecostal Church with Reverends Charles Tony Warren and Dale Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25th and again on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr. Owens was born April 4, 1930 and passed away June 23, 2020 at the age of 90. He was a lifetime resident of the Leesville/Slagle area and a 1948 graduate of Simpson High School. For many years, he was the manager of Red and White Grocery and also managed other stores in this area. Mr. Owens was a lifetime member of Walnut Hill United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed raising his garden and riding his grandbabies around on his lawnmower.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Rae Carver Owens; parents, Almon Joe Owens and Nancy Ida Bolton Owens; and siblings, Vivian Gilcrease, Pete Owens, Verda Walker, Shirley Bollinger, Polly Owens, Geraldine Mann, and Freddy Owens.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Tommy Owens and wife Joyce of Florien, LA; David Randall “Randy” Owens and wife Sandy of Gillis, LA; Rodney Dale Owens and wife Dolly of Slagle, LA; and Robert Wayne Owens and wife Brenda of Anacoco, LA,
daughters, JoAnn Wiggins and husband Louis of Slagle, LA; Elaine Burns and husband John of Leesville, LA; and Glenda Wright and husband James of Leesville, LA,
brother, Ronnie Owens and wife Patricia of Alexandria, LA,
grandchildren, Joey Wiggins, Shannon Northup, Christina Pea, Teresa Wilder, Tammy Williams, Heather Ritter, Cody Owen Wright, Michael Loyd Wright, Alisha Johnson, David Owens, Sherry Trehan, Tabitha Hymel, Joshua Owens, Jacob Owens, Justin Owens, Casey Owens, Angie Martin, Molly Durison, and Tommy Glen Owens,
a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Michael Wright, Jacob Owens, Joshua Owens, Joseph Wiggins, Tommy Owens, David Owens, Justin Owens, and Casey Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Busby, John Burns, and James Wright.
