Obituary for Claudia Ethel Smart
Funeral services for Claudia Ethel Smart will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Old Anacoco Baptist Church with Reverends Sandy Guynn and Kenneth Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Anacoco Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, April 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Claudia Ethel Smart, 84, of Anacoco, Louisiana passed on April 19, 2021 with her loving family at her side. She was born on February 4, 1937 in Mitchell, Louisiana.
Claudia loved her family and was always available when you needed to talk or just for her to listen. She was an excellent cook and collected cookbooks. If you were going on a trip, she wanted you to bring her a cookbook. Anyone who came to her house was always asked, “Are you hungry?” Everyone was welcomed at her table.
She had a giving spirit and was continually giving to others around her. Claudia had a green thumb and loved tendering to her rose garden of many colors, yellow being her favorite. She raised chickens and always had fresh eggs for all.
Family gatherings were always a special time she looked forward to. Laughter in the house brought joy to her heart. She always wanted us to remember we were a child of God. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 51: “Have mercy upon me O’God according to your loving kindness, according to the multitude of your tender mercy. Blot out my transgressions.”
Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Smart; parents, Sydney and Ethel Myers; and brothers, Amos, Alton, and Dalton Myers.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marie and Tex Thornton and Joyce and Richard Slaughter;
sons, Robert “Bobby” and Pam Smart, Dale Smart, Roger and Margaret Smart, and Thomas and Becky Smart;
sisters, Marie Gill and Edna Cryer;
grandchildren, Charlie, Glenda, Brandon, Ashley, Amber, Johnathan, Roger Lynn, Barbara, Vicki, Chris, Corey, Amy, Heather, Derrick, Candy, Dustin, and Brittany;
and great grandchildren, Lily, Emily, Kaylee, Bailey, Nicole, Ashlee, Zachary, Colton F., Jozie, Ashley, Jayla, Jameson, Alexis, Colton, Rylee, Cryslen, Christen, Damian, Claudia, Collin, and Natalie.
Pallbearers will be Corey Smart, Johnathan Smart, Roger Smart, Charlie Scott, Brandon Scott, Dustin Santos, and Derrick Santos. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Foster.
