Obituary for Clarence Otis Rice
Clarence Otis Rice was born August 13, 1956 in Asheville, North Carolina and passed away February 24, 2020 in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 63. He worked a number of jobs throughout his lifetime including driving a bus in Asheville, stripping floors, and even harvesting mistletoe. Mr. Rice never met a stranger and his giving spirit led him to serve as a caregiver for several of his family members. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will truly be missed.
Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Rice; father, Clarence J. Rice; brother, J.B. Rice; and sister, Bonnie Mae Rice.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chadwick Rice of Moreland, Georgia,
daughters, Candace Rice of Fort Polk, Louisiana and Ashley Chinol of Waynesville, North Carolina,
mother, Dovie Rice of Weaverville, North Carolina,
sisters, Brenda Marler of Weaverville, North Carolina and Lettie Hensley of Sprucd Pine, North Carolina,
grandchildren, Cayden Rice, Peyton Gardner, Candler Rice, and Jaylen Taylor,
and a host of extended family.
There will be a private viewing for Mr. Rice's family at Smoky Mountains Cremation and Funeral Services in Clyde, North Carolina.
