Obituary for Charles Zachary Blake

Charles Zachary Blake was born on April 14, 1988 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles and Catherine Blake and passed away on February 14, 2024 at the age of thirty-five. They raised him with his siblings, Sarah and Kirk Blake, in Kenner, Louisiana.

A memorial service honoring the life of Charles Zachary Blake will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 2:00PM at The River Community Church, Natchitoches, Louisiana under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.

As a child, Charlie loved playing football with his dad and enjoyed being on a basketball team with his brother, Kirk. They watched football games together and would cheer for his favorite teams which were the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He would play video games with his mama and thought it was so funny when he would win because he knew how competitive she could be. Charlie was always curious what culinary creations mom and dad were making in the kitchen and he started to really enjoy cooking alongside them. You could catch him listening to Eminem on repeat as a teenager and it was hilariously cool hearing him rapping at all hours of the day. He also enjoyed staying up late chatting with his sister Sarah all about life, their hopes and dreams. Our whole family loves the water and would enjoy a summer vacation at the beach every year. Swimming together was one of our favorite activities whether in a pool, lake, or ocean. It always made us happy to have those special times together.

Charlie loved traveling to visit his siblings (John, Katie, and David) who live in Georgia as often as possible. We would all try to meet up at the beach for a reunion since it's our happy place. He was so wonderful playing silly games with all his nieces and nephews and making them laugh. Charlie was so tender and affectionate with them giving them hugs and kisses on the cheek. He will always be known for being fun Uncle Charlie. With some of his family, he traveled out of the country for the first time on a cruise last summer. He truly thought it was beautiful being on a ship in the middle of the ocean. One of his favorite moments was having a special dinner with his brother in law, Daniel at the Chef's Table.

Charlie had various jobs in the restaurant field, at car dealerships, and at a paper mill while he lived in Arkansas. His last job was at Alliance in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he loved working as a forklift operator. He was a hard worker and we admired his ability to persevere when any setbacks in life would happen. Charlie was so much fun and had a natural charisma that made people want to know him. His radiant smile would light up the room and his laugh was contagious. He was outgoing and spontaneous, always wanting to live life to the fullest. His kind heart was giving to others and he was truly the most generous person.

Charlie loved God with his whole heart and enjoyed worshipping Him. He and mama would sing together and tune in to many pastors to listen to messages. He was an active member in several churches, always willing to help and serve others. Growing up, he enjoyed being a part of the youth group at First Church of God. He would volunteer at the food bank and sing with Sarah, Kirk, Erica, and many other friends at nursing homes. For many years at Centennial Fellowship in Arkansas, he assisted with The Transformation project which was an outreach program to the local community. He would pick up, prep, and distribute food boxes to the poor. Charlie would minister and share the gospel with those who came to receive the food boxes. Since he was so playful, he would also dress up in costume to play different characters for the summer VBS program. The kids thought he was so funny and entertaining. He led some Bible studies at New Creations and would pray over people there. His heart was so pure and cared for others. He made a lasting impression and impact on many people in this world. While we take comfort in knowing Charlie is now with Jesus, we will miss him greatly. All the special moments that have turned into beautiful memories will linger and be treasured in our hearts forever. Rest in peace in God's loving embrace Charlie. We will always love you and think of you fondly.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Charles and Catherine Blake, of Natchitoches,

brothers, John Carter of Natchitoches, David Carter of Atlanta, GA, and Kirk Blake of Shreveport;

sisters, Kati Carter of Atlanta, GA and Sarah Farmer of Spring, TX;
