Ray was born on July 22, 1976, in Many, Louisiana to Cecil Prewitt Sr. and Glenda Read Prewitt. He passed away December 8, 2022, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 46. He attended Hornbeck High School and graduated in 1994. He worked as a fire marker on Fort Polk for many years and spent several years working on land rigs.
Ray had a loving heart and a kind smile. He always made sure that his family was taken care of. He loved his nieces and nephews greatly and made sure that they never went without. However, his greatest joy was to pester and aggravate his family to try and get a “rise” out of them.
Ray always had a ready and willing hand when someone needed help. He enjoyed dirt track racing, hunting, working on vehicles, and being outdoors. He won many racing trophies and continued racing until his health kept him off the track.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Prewitt Sr.; grandparents, Bill & Betty Prewitt and Brother Wayne & Crystal Read; Uncle Joe Read and infant Uncle Randy Prewitt; Aunt Debra “Debbie” Prewitt; and cousins Chad Prewitt and Edward Read.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Glenda Read Prewitt of Hornbeck, LA; two brothers, Jeffrey Arthur of Hornbeck, LA and Billy Prewitt and wife Caitlyn of Vilonia, AR; two sisters, Elizabeth Jones and husband Davy of Leesville, LA and Jennifer Prewitt of Hornbeck, LA.; nieces, Kelsey, Madison, Willow, Whitney, Katilyn, and Hunter; nephews, Copeland, Rowen, and Dustin; great nieces, Sailor, Abigail, and Virginia; great nephew, Hayden; and special fur friend, Taz.
