Obituary for Carroll Earl Griffin

Funeral services for Carroll Earl Griffin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Simpson officiating. The burial will be held at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The pallbearers will be Eric Figueroa, Ganon Figueroa, Logan Figueroa, and Luis Figueroa, and the honorary pallbearers will be Isaiah Esquivel and Eric Hinojosa.

A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Carroll was born March 23, 1941, in Yakima, Washington and passed away at his home in Hornbeck, Louisiana on September 8, 2024, at the age of 83. He proudly served his country in the Navy for five years and then continued to serve in the Coast Guard for another 20 years. After retiring from the military, Carroll continued to work as a state corrections officer in Texas for 13 years and later at McDonalds in Leesville and the Commissary at Fort Johnson. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and volunteered many hours of his time there because he believed in serving others. Some of his hobbies were reading and collecting guns, and he was a lifelong member of the NRA. Carroll had love for animals and rescued several. Spending time with his family was important to him.

Carroll was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Griffin and parents, Roy Griffin & Elsie Mae Shelton Griffin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Barbara Ann Griffin of Hornbeck, LA;

daughter, Danna Michelle Figueroa and husband Eric;

grandchildren, Angela Hinojosa, Ganon Figueroa, Logan Figueroa, Luis Figueroa, and Isaiah Esquivel;

sisters, Dale Shelton and Linda Brown;

and extended family members and friends.
