Obituary for Carmelo Hernandez Torres
Carmelo Hernández Torres, 90, of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico passed away August 26th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
Born October 19, 1931, Carmelo proudly joined the Marines in 1949 where he fought in the Korean War. Afterwards he re-enlisted in the Air Force where he became an aviation’s mechanic. In Puerto Rico he worked as a policeman, while being part of the National Guard. After 10 years in the force, he moved to work as a Warehouse Administrator for the Electrical Company on the Island.
Carmelo enjoyed traveling, playing dominoes with his friends, his dogs, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
Carmelo was preceded in death by his daughters, Rosa L. Hernández and Mayra I. Hernández; his parents, Carmelo Hernández and Luisa Torres; siblings, Fernando Hernández, Isabel Hernández, Carmen Hernández, and Cruz Hernández.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Emilia E. Rivera; son, Harold Hernández (Charisse) and daughter, Mildred Brown-Hernández (Steven); grandchildren, Harold A. Hernández, Christian J. Hernández, Emmanuel E. Hernández (Jessica), Eduardo A. Grau (Hailey), Natasha Morrison (Matthew), Alexander Brown (Marcella), Andre Menard (Lorlin), Tyler Broussard (Katherine), and Che Broussard (Jasmine); great-grandchildren, Xantana Rose, Ryder Alexander, Ezrael Viktor, Freyja Lynn, Hendrixx Joseph, and Malachii Alexander.
