Mr. Nicks was born on February 15, 1952, and passed away on March 14, 2018, at the age of 66. He was a graduate of Pickering High School then worked in construction where he could do almost any type of job. Mr. Nicks rodeoed some in his earlier years and loved animals. He helped work on his family’s farm and enjoyed the outdoors. Most of all, he loved his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Chancey’s memories of her daddy were that he was one of the hardest working men she ever knew. He loved her and her momma, worked hard everyday with his hands in the hottest heat and coldest winds to provide for them. When not working, he enjoyed his weekends mowing grass and sitting in the shade under the sweetgum trees. On occasion, he would be able to find some time to slip into the gym or to the field to watch Chancey play. He was so proud to have Georgia, his “boo-boo”, and his grandbabies to spoil. They meant the world to him. He was a man of very few words, but when he spoke it was genuine. Bruce may not have said it often, but he loved his extended family. He liked for Theresa to tell him the latest jobs or building projects or hunting kills his brothers-in-law and nephews were up to. Bruce loved his sisters-in-law and nieces and loving referred to them as “his girls.” He was not much for talking on the phone, but he cherished the days when his sister and grandbabies called to talk.
