Obituary for Bonnie Jean Johnson
A memorial service for Bonnie Jean Slaughter Johnson will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Christian Living Fellowship 12955 Lake Charles Hwy. Leesville, LA with Reverend Bobby Ganaway officiating.
Bonnie was born on March 30, 1964 to Calvin Edward Grunden and Mary Elizabeth Grunden Rippier and passed away on February 4, 2017, at the age of 52. Bonnie had a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and taught psychology at Northwestern State University where she was loved by her peers and students. Bonnie was a free spirit, but more importantly, she was a lifelong learner. So much so, her passion was teaching. Bonnie made a positive impression on everyone she met. She saw the good in everyone and had a forgiving heart. She encouraged anyone to follow their dreams and unconditionally loved and supported her friends and family. She was a proud mother and will be truly missed by her family.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother—Mary Elizabeth Rippier and stepfather—Horace Rippier.
She is part of a big, beautiful, blended family. Survived by:
Parents: Calvin and Marsha Grunden and Jimmy and Barbara Slaughter
Sons: Joey Slaughter and wife Jessica of Leesville, LA and Ryan Ferguson and wife Kristy of San Antonio, TX
Daughter: Cassandra Watson and husband Russell of Copperas Cove, TX
Brothers: Scott Grunden, Brian Grunden, Rick Grunden, Gary Grunden, John Slaughter and Jack Slaughter
Sister: Patty Watts, Teresa Peters, Wendy Rippier, Robyn Cavanaugh
Grandchildren: Alicia, Jayden, Trysten, Kyler, Landon, Sophia, Kelsie, Kimberly, and Kasey
