Obituary for Bobby James Wilkins
Bobby James Wilkins
Sunrise - November 29, 1960
Sunset – March 4, 2017
Bobby James Wilkins, also known as “Beautiful Bobby”, was born on November 29, 1960, in Leesville, Louisiana to James Paul Wilkins Jr. and Alice Faye Woods. He passed away at 5:31 a.m. on March 4, 2017, at the age of 56.
He lived in many parts of the state of Georgia, from Atlanta and Gainesville to Columbus, which is where he met and married his wife, Shelita Edge Wilkins, in 1980. Bobby worked a variety of jobs throughout his life from being a roofer to being a doffer in a steel mill then as a line leader in a chicken plant.
Beautiful Bobby enjoyed a host of things like watching sports and listening to music on his phone. In his childhood years, he had a passion for skating and dancing. But mostly, he enjoyed the family times with his sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews – just laughing and reminiscing on things. Bobby was the type that if a family member needed to be contacted and no one had a number, he would be the go-to-guy to get it, and it was done quick and right.
Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He’s survived by his sisters – Wanda Lapsley and husband Thomas of Leesville, LA, Vicky Watson of Gainesville, Georgia, Annie Wilkins of Chicago, Illinois, and Theresa Wilkins of Chicago, IL
Brothers – Felix Wilkins of Leesville, LA, Reginold Young of Gainesville, GA, John Wilkins of Chicago, IL, Paul Wilkins of Chicago, IL, Kim Wilkins of Chicago, IL, and Tracy Wilkins of Chicago, IL
A host of nieces, nephews, and extended family
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 808 Anacoco St. Leesville, LA. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Carl Armstead officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
