Obituary for Bobbie Jean Merchant
Funeral services for Bobbie Jean Doherty Merchant will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at LaCamp United Pentecostal Church 7241 Hwy. 121 LaCamp, LA 71438 with Reverends Ryan Daigle, James Herbert, and Greg Mortenson officiating under the direction of Jeane�s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service. Bobbie Jean Doherty Merchant was born on May 15, 1937, to Henry and Francis Doherty and passed away on October 4, 2016, at the age of 79. Bobbie was a homemaker, cook, seamstress, and caregiver to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For over 35 years, she worked as the cafeteria manager at Hicks High School. She was called Sis, Bobbie, Aunt Bobbie, Maw Bobbie, or Bob-Bob to all. While there, she never let a child go hungry even if it meant she paid for their lunch herself. Bobbie was a faithful member of LaCamp United Pentecostal Church for over 58 years where she was a worker and the church treasurer. Bobbie had a loving and caring heart and rarely had an unkind word to say. She was a devoted and loving wife for 64 years and will be celebrating her 65th wedding anniversary in heaven with Edward. She loved working with and being with children of all ages and was a nursery Sunday school teacher for 30 plus years. Preceding her in death were her parents � Henry and Francis Doherty, husband � John Merchant, brothers � Johnny Doherty and Billy Doherty, and her granddaughter � Melissa Wiggins Left to cherish her memory are: Daughter: Sandy Wiggins and husband Kennith of Hicks, LA Daughters of love: Shannon Poe Hunt and Lynsey Neely Brothers: Louis Doherty, Rodney Doherty, and Keith Doherty Sisters: Macy Powell, Sarah George, Doris George, Bernice Lummus, and Carolyn Kelley Grandchildren: John William Hunt Jr. and wife Jackie, Joseph �Joey� Edward Hunt and wife Kaitlyn, Jessica Michell Page and husband Brandon, Horace Dakota Wiggins and wife Tori, and Heather Le�Ann Cryer and husband Jeffery Great-grandchildren: Trey Norris, Chasity Hunt, Natalie Norris, Brylee Hunt, Madison Page, Cole Hunt, Nathaniel Page, Dyami Rock, Hadley Dougherty, Katie Hunt, Emma Wiggins, Baylen Cryer, Lucy Hunt, Kane Hunt, Rowen Wiggins, Cheveyo Hunt, Susie Hunt, and Casten Cryer Pallbearers: Dusty Dousay, Joey Hunt, Jeffery Cryer, Brandon Page, Trey Norris, and Shawn Wellman.
