Obituary for Barbara Sue Smith Jarrell
Funeral services for Barbara Sue Smith Jarrell will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Evans Congregational Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Community Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Michael Dodson, Christopher Smith, Heith Evans, Billy Benjamin, Colby Benjamin, and Roco Evans.
A visitation will be held at the church on Monday, December 5th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Barbara was born June 1, 1956, in DeRidder, Louisiana and passed away December 3, 2022, in Rosepine, Louisiana at the age of 66. She loved children and devoted much time teaching Sunday School or Vacation Bible School at Evans Congregational Methodist Church. During the summer, Barbara helped conduct the youth camp at Spears Chapel. The whole community of Evans benefited from her teaching multiple generations about the love of Christ. Barbara loved with the spirit and innocence of a child. She had a tender heart and shared it with no boundaries and no deceit. The seeds she planted in all hearts made those she taught receptive and obedient when it was their time to listen to the call of Christ. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and many friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Elderson Jarrell Jr. and parents, William Wayne Smith and Faye Ellen Eason Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, David Smith and wife Teresa of DeRidder, LA;
nieces and nephews, Christopher Smith and wife Rai of Houston, TX, Denise Dodson and husband Michael of Westlake, LA, and Bradley Smith and wife Christine of Daytona, FL;
six great-nieces and nephews;
close friends, Brenda Stanley, Lisa Evans, Carleigh Benjamin, and Kelli Guidry;
and a host of church family and friends.
