Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville from 5:00-8:00PM

Bobbie, as most people knew her by was born on June 26, 1937, to Joe and Bessie LaCaze in Cravens, LA. She married Burns Johnson, Sr. and they settled down in Westwego, LA. They began attending the Frist United Pentecostal Church of Gretna where she received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Her pastor Rev. F. L. Sartin quickly put her to work for the kingdom. She loved the Lord and enjoyed working and serving in the church. She and her family made and sold thousands of bags of peanut brittle through the years. Together, they were also responsible for cleaning the church. She also sang in the choir, knocked doors, worked on the bus route and taught Sunday School for many years. She started a Sunday School extension in her home where she would teach on Sunday afternoons every Sunday. She would often have up to 50 children in her home at times. She touched many lives. She was the Sunday School Superintendent, the Ladies Auxiliary leader and taught many Search for Truth bible studies over the years. She also helped with church fundraisers by making her delicious chicken dinners. Besides being a servant for the Lord, she was also a prayer warrior, and she believed in the power of prayer. She believed in her God and knew he was and is able to do anything. Even until the end of her battle with lung cancer she still spoke of the goodness of God, she still believed and trusted him for her healing.

She loved her family, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and the rest of her loved ones as well. She may not be well known to a lot of people here on this earth, but in the spiritual world. She was a mighty woman of God. She was a prayer warrior and prayed daily for her family and church family.

She fought a good fight and has finished her course and through it all she kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) What a legacy she has left behind. We thank you for the truth and for our heritage.

She is preceded in death by her husband Burns Johnson, Sr., parents Joe and Bessie LaCaze, brothers, Milford LaCaze, Curtis LaCaze, Caston LaCaze, Douglas LaCaze, John LaCaze, and sisters, Hunky Bray, Hazel Green, and Gleta Deer.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Joannie Crowell, Brenda Barnes, Dr. John Johnson (Angela), Jackie Johnson, Sr. (Karen), Burns Johnson, Jr., (Donna), Tracie Haymon (Rennie) brother, Alvin LaCaze (Rita), sister in law, DeLoris (Lois) LaCaze, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and a slew of nieces, nephews and extended family including the honorary Flathers family.

A special thank you to Dr. Aymond and 2nd floor staff at Byrd Hospital, Ali Mount, Cabrini Hospital ER staff, Dr. Abi, Ms. Cynthia and staff, Kaitlyn Rivers, and an extra special thanks to Ian Simmons with Acadian Ambulance, Emily with St Joseph’s Hospice, Pastor and Sis.
