Aurora Beverly-Jay Shafer was born on January 26, 2019, in Fort Carson, Colorado, to Regina and Kody Shafer, and passed away on November 17, 2022, in Leesville, LA. Aurora was named after the northern lights and she never let anyone call her a nickname. She would automatically correct them by saying, I’m not “stinky toes”; I am Aurora and MawMaw calls me Ari. Her favorite show was Spirit and every horse she saw was named Spirit. She did not like to ask for help; she always wanted to figure things out on her own and would make the biggest messes.

Braylen, her brother, was her hero. She knew she could ask him anything and he would do it. They raced thru the house and her bubbie always told her how fast she could run. Her sister, Haisley, was her best friend and partner in crime. She was her mama’s little sidekick, sleeping beauty, and snuggle butt. Aurora would say she was a “fixer” like her daddy. She was fearless and would kill bugs with her bare hands. She was wild and free and loved to go everywhere in her pink rubber boots. Aurora was self-less and always shared what she had with Haisley and Braylen. She did not talk much but when she did it was always meaningful. For someone so quiet, she could be the loudest in the room. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her uncle, Todd Hughes.

She is survived by her parents, Kody and Regina Shafer;

brother, Braylen; sister, Haisley;

grandparents, Steven and Pamela Shafer, and Lori McGlothlin;

aunts, Hannah Shafer, Carol Michele Zollman, Sheila Scanlon, Elizabeth Harvey, Misty Hughes, Tiffany (TT) Horsley;

cousins, Cole, Jaxson, Jason, Benjamin, Peyton, Ryleigh, Everette, Amelia, Chelsea, Re’Chele, Elijah, William, Kira, Kylie and Kahlan.
