Obituary for Astin Laina O'Banion

Astin Laina O’Banion, 41, of Leesville, entered her eternal rest on July 31, 2023.

Astin was born on June 1, 1982, in DeRidder, Louisiana and is the youngest child of Michael “Coon” and Alice O’Banion. Astin was an Alumni of Pickering High School where she graduated in 2001. After graduation she continued her education at Louisiana State University at Alexandria where she majored in nursing. She worked for many years as a secretary at O’Banion Oil Company, alongside her parents and siblings, running the family business.

Astin was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. To know her was to love her, any time she saw you in public you could always expect to be greeted with a smile and warm hug from her. She had a kind heart and truly loved everyone she met in her life. She loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. You could always find her taking pictures and documenting memories with her loved ones. She was proud of her children and their accomplishments both on the court or field and in the classroom. She loved to watch her boys play the sports they loved and as her daughters got old enough to play varsity athletics, she enjoyed watching them work their magic on the court and field.

Astin was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alton “Buddy” and Martha Merlene Norris; paternal grandfather, Murphy O’Banion; aunt, Cynthia “Sue” Martin; uncle, William Norris Sr.; cousin, Todd Randall Martin; and childhood best friend, Timothy Pousson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ted Wilson; parents Michael and Alice O’Banion; grandmother, Pauline O’Banion; sister, Amber O’Banion; brother, Michael O’Banion Jr. all of Leesville; brother, James “Bear” Carlock Sr. and wife Jessica of Marshall, Arkansas; children, Kaden “Buck” O’Banion and fiancee Sarah, Kaleb “Pedy” O’Banion, Allie Wilson, and Kynlie Wilson; aunt and uncle, Mamie and Tommy Chouest; uncle, Randy Martin, all of Leesville, aunt, Rhonda Norris of Pollock, Texas; nieces and nephews, Kylee Dyson and husband Tyler, Haley O’Banion, Landry Holt, and Maycee Holt, all of Leesville, James “Cub” Carlock and wife Brittany and Aaron Carlock of Marshall, Arkansas; and one great nephew and three great nieces along with a host of cousins and cherished friends.
