Obituary for Antonio "Tony" Ruiz
Funeral services for Antonio “Tony” Ruiz will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Toledo Bend Bible Baptist Church with Pastors Derrick Addison and Bill Russell officiating. The burial with full military honors will follow in Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Charlie” Williams, Dwight “Buddy” Williams, and Webster Wilson.
A visitation will be held at Toledo Bend Baptist Church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th and again on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Tony was born March 1, 1942, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and passed away April 17, 2023, in Anacoco, Louisiana at the age of 81. He proudly served in the US Army for 24 years and was a member of Toledo Bend Bible Baptist Church. Tony enjoyed gardening, collecting model cars, and watching sports. He was an avid fan of all Anacoco sports and liked watching all sports – especially high school and college baseball, basketball, and softball along with the Astros. Tony’s legacy of his deep Christian faith and his friendly personality will be remembered by all who knew him.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Ruiz; son, Robin Sims; one grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and parents, Florencio Ruiz and Ramona Andino Ruiz.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James “Timmy” Sims of Virginia;
daughters, Eva Marie Nichols (Charles) of Louisiana, Donna Lund (Jerry) of Davenport, IA, Lindsey Melihercsik of Apopka, FL, Kathy Hill of Leesville, LA, and Jamie Becker (Carl) of Silver City, TX;
many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and friends.
