Obituary for Annie Lee Finch Wilhelm
A graveside service for Annie “Ann” Lee Finch Wilhelm will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Canaan Cemetery with Reverend Craig Forque officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held in the Canaan Baptist Church Life Center on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Annie Lee Finch “Ann” Wilhelm, 86, of Leesville passed away, August 4, 2021.
She was born to the late Edna May Evans and Hubert Wayne Finch August 13, 1934 in Simpson County Mississippi. Ann graduated from Pinola High School in Simpson County, Mississippi in 1953.
Ann was married to Melbourne Maurice “Buzz” Wilhelm for 48 years until his passing in 2006. They lived in various locations while he served in the military, until finally settling in Leesville 45 years ago. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Joe Welch (Jewell) and Ed Welch (Rita). She is survived by children Ronnie Oliver (Mi Son), Sheri Wilhelm, Sharon Wilhelm, Sandra Hays, (Wade), and Susan Holbrook, (Rex). She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Degley and Josh Degley, Heather Holbrook, Deril and Tanya Oliver, Melanie Hays Walker (Nathan), Melissa Hays West (Scott), Daniel Hays, along with great-grandchildren Asher Degley (who could get her to play Candyland and get on the floor to play army men) , Kai and Gavin Oliver, and Grant West. Left to cherish her memory is also brothers Tommy Welch (Kay) and Mickey Welch (Rhonda), sisters-in-law Rita and Jewel Welch and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Before retirement Ann worked at various jobs including at the commissary and in the records department at Bayne-Jones Hospital at Fort Polk but her proudest accomplishment was being a military spouse. She loved visiting with family and traveling, especially to visit with friends and family and going to Branson and Tennessee. She loved going to the Grand Ole Opry and shows in Branson. She was ready to go eat fish at a moment’s notice. She will also be missed by the family cat, Oreo who would curl up in her lap for hours at a time.
