Obituary for Anna Hildegard Woods
Anna Hildegard Woods, a loving wife, Momma and Oma left this world to be able to dance with her lifetime love, Clarence “Dutch” Woods at the age of 82. Momma was born on March 10, 1939 in Hoppstadten Germany to Maria Thomas, who had lost her husband to a brief illness, Wilhelm Thomas, several weeks before Momma was born.
Momma came into this world at the beginning of the war in Germany, and lost her oldest brother, Benhard Thomas, in Italy, about a year after her birth. Years later she eventually lost her Mother, her brother Norbert, and sisters Monika and Alma. She leaves behind her sisters Theresa, Maria Barbara, Veronika and her brother Theodore.
Momma lived an incredible life, and passed on timeless family traditions about the meaning of hard work, sacrifice, love, devotion, kindness and compassion. Momma saw the pain and beauty of this world, yet she filled many people’s lives with the incredible joy of being able to give them a warm smile and a giving nature, asking nothing in return.
Momma was given the gift of life, and now we have to give her back. This is hard for our family, and for those whose lives she was able to touch over many years. As her daughter, Jeanette Miller, I lost my best friend and the woman who unconditionally loved and supported me every step of my life. Her greatest fear was leaving me behind, and mine was that I would not be able to hold her hand if she was scared when she left this world to join her Heavenly family. She leaves behind two grandson’s, Kyle Johnson, Troy Johnson and his wife, Ale’ Johnson.
Momma’s service and memorial will be held at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church on May 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with a brief eulogy read, followed by the Rosary and Mass. Our family asks that in lieu of flowers that you donate to Saint Michaels Catholic Church or to the Rapides Oncology Life Center Foundation, to assist those that may not have the financial ability to pay for their cancer treatments not covered by insurance.
We want to thank Vernon Home Heath nurses and her aid Ms. Barbara, Doctor Landrum and her staff, and the Team at Rapides Oncology and Life Center in Alexandria as we will miss giving you her laughter, and a good story or two. God bless you all for what you continue to do in the service of others.
