Angie was born August 15, 1954 in Germany and passed away February 26, 2021 in Leesville, LA at the age of 66. She was a hard worker and led a “rags to riches” life. In the ninth grade she dropped out of school and worked for a while at B.J.’s Diner then began her journey in the medical field. First, Angie earned her GED then her CNA certification and worked at Leesville General Hospital. She continued her education earning her LPN, BSN, and eventually her Master’s degree in nursing. For 38 years, Angie worked at Byrd Hospital as a dedicated nurse and mentor. Her life revolved around the hospital where she worked as the manager of Med Surge, was the ICU Director, Nursing Project Specialist, Emergency Room Director, and served as the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. Angie saw potential in everyone around her even when others could not. She encouraged her coworkers and treated them like family. They could always find a sweet treat in her office. Outside of the hospital, Angie’s passion was fishing. She loved being on the water and adored her children and grandchildren. She has left a lasting legacy for all who knew her.
Angie was preceded in death by her son, James Earl “J.T.” Tipper; husband, Wayne Dixon; parents, William Earl Tipper and Carlie Vee Michaux Tipper; and brother, Leonard Earl Tipper.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amanda Michelle Morris of Anacoco, LA,
stepdaughters, Cheryl Renee Dixon of Florien, LA and Pam Dixon Smith of Anacoco, LA,
grandchildren, James A. Tipper, Rebecca Tipper, Travis Kring, M’Kenna Kring, Joey Burbee, Britnee Dixon, Hope Shores, and Heath Smith,
eleven great grandchildren, and a host of coworkers whom she loved like family.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Weaver, James Brooks, Chris Mitcham, John Williams, Teddy LeBleu, and Darren Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Williams, James Tipper, Travis Kring, Joey Berube, and Heath Smith.
