Obituary for Andrew Johnson Jr.
Sergeant Andrew Johnson was born on December 22, 1946 in Leesville, LA, the son of the late Andrew Johnson and Inez Wallace Kenebrew. He closed
his eyes and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2019, at his beautiful home with his family by his side.
He spent most of his adolescent years in Leesville. He attended Vernon High School. Andrew enlisted in the U. S. Army. He spent over 13 years serving his country. Andrew was very proud that he fought in the Vietnam War. There were days he loved talking about his experience and then there were days that he didn't.
After returning home from Vietnam, Andrew got the chance to tour Korea and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, Fort Sill, Fort Hood, Fort Riley Kansas, and last Fort Polk.
During his military career, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sps (Rifle M-14) Parachute Badge. Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, 2 Over Seas Ribbons Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Devices.
Andrew met the love of his life, Dorothy Johnson and married August 1967 and to this union three children were born.
Andrew was always on the go and when I mean on the go, he was always on the go. Andrew dedicated his life to Christ. He joined St. Paul Baptist Church Inc., under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence C. Williams. When Andrew wasn't on the go and had time to stop, he loved to read. Sometimes it would be a novel or his Bible. In heart, he was a very kind man who was loved and will be missed.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 42 years Dorothy Johnson; two sons: Anthony Johnson and Andrew Robinson of Houston, Texas;
two daughters: Charlightha Johnson of San Antonio, Texas and Tracey LeDay of Houston, Texas; four brothers: Courtney Johnson, Terry (Dorothy), Jerry and Charles Williams of Leesville; one Sister: Shelia Williams of Leesville;
and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Claude C. Williams and Johnny Ray White; one sister: Judy Williams; and one son: Dwayne Tyrone "Dokey" Johnson.
A funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at St. Paul Baptist Church Inc, 501 N. 9th St. Leesville, with Reverend Williams officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Central Louisiana Veterans’ Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
