Obituary for Alva Mae Squyres
Funeral services for Alva Mae Squyres will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Flactor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Flactor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Alva was born August 31, 1931, in Hicks, Louisiana and passed away August 22, 2022, in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 90. In 1995, she joined Flactor Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health declined. She enjoyed spending time mowing her yard and growing flowers. Her family was precious to her, and Alva devoted her life to caring for them. They were her priority, and she always put them first.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents, David Jeane and Pearly Alva Kirkpatrick Jeane; husband, Herman David Squyres; sons, Herman Elmo Squyres and Sherman David Squyres; brothers, David Ernest Jeane, Isaac Lafayette Jeane, and Sidney Aubrey Jeane; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Riggs Squyres.
Those left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter, Christy Renee Squyres and fiancée Joseph M. Burnaman II of Shreveport, LA;
and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Alva’s family wishes to thank the staff at Naomi Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for loving and caring for her like she was their own family.
